A banned driver who sped off from a petrol station without paying and drove dangerously has been sentenced to 27 weeks’ detention in a young-offender institution.
Choudhry Ali, 20, of Durham Terrace, Girlington , Bradford, was ordered to stop by the police when they caught him driving with suspicious registration plates at a Shell garage in Haworth Road at 5.15pm on November 21 last year.
Prosecutor Adam Birkby told Bradford Crown Court Ali sped off without paying for £69.73 of petrol. He exceeded speed limits and drove on the wrong side of the road before running into a parked vehicle in Whitby Terrace, Girlington.
Ali admitted making off without payment, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and having no vehicle insurance.
The judge, Recorder Peter Babb, banned Ali from driving for 18 months.
