Detectives are hunting robbers who may have used a knife to threaten their teenage victim in a “nasty, frightening and unprovoked” incident.

The 16-year-old suffered minor injuries when he was put in a head lock and had what he believed to be a knife pressed to his neck during the mugging.

The teenager had his mobile phone, wallet and keys stolen in the robbery.

He was walking home after a night out with friends when he was approached from behind by two men.

One of them grabbed him in a head lock, demands were made for his property and what felt like a sharp blade was held to his neck.

The victim handed over his possessions and the robbers fled. He suffered minor head injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which happened in Whitehall Road, Wyke , close to the Wyke Lion pub at the Hellfire Crossroads, just after midnight on Monday.

Det Insp Craig Lord, of Bradford South CID, said it was a “nasty, frightening and unprovoked” robbery of a defenceless young man in the early hours.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Clare Whitaker, said: “I am particularly interested in speaking to a motorist passing as this offence occurred. He stopped and shouted at the suspects.”
