A pub customer was left with a broken jaw after he was rude about a member of the bar staff, magistrates heard.
Frank Fairbank, 21, responded badly when a crude remark was made about his mother when he went to collect her after her shift at the Bay Horse Pub, Sutton -in-Craven, on May 26.
He hit Jack Whitley three times to the side of his face, the court in Skipton heard.
Mr Whitley was taken to Airedale Hospital and then to Bradford Royal Infirmary , where his fractured jaw was mended with a plate under general anaesthetic. He was expected to make a full recovery.
Fairbank, who admitted unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm, was a man of previous good character who was in employment, the court heard.
In mitigation, John Mewies said Fairbank had been unaware of the extent of Mr Whitley’s injuries and was full of remorse. He said Fairbank’s mother had experienced problems with a group of men, including Mr Whitley, during her shift.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing until August 31 for reports and warned Fairbank, of Harper Square, Sutton, they would be considering all options.
