Plans to put patients at the heart of the NHS will be discussed during a live webchat with a GP involved in one of Bradford’s new clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).

Dr Yasmin Khan, an elected member of Bradford Districts CCG, will be online from 10am to 11am on Thursday to answer questions about how the CCG will work and how patients can get more involved in helping to shape local health services.

People can log on to: bradford.nhs.uk/get-involved/ webchats/get-involved-in-our-live-online-chat-about-clinical-commissioning-groups/, ask their question and they will get a reply from Dr Khan.

Bradford Districts CCG, which serves more than 330,000 people, is one of three CCGs covering the district which have been developed as part of the NHS reforms in the Health and Social Care Act 2012. The others are Bradford City and Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

CCGs place family doctors in the driving seat of delivering new NHS reforms and, working with their patients, this provides an opportunity for clinical leaders to improve quality and achieve better outcomes for patients.

Bradford Districts CCG’s key priorities are: tackling health inequalities through prevention, integration and partnerships; improving patient safety and the patient experience; improving primary care quality; improving outcomes of people with long-term conditions; transforming urgent and intermediate care and transforming mental health and community services.

Dr Khan, a GP at The Willows Medical Practice in Queensbury , said: “The webchat is a great way for people to ask any questions about how CCGs will work, what the changes mean and what we plan to focus on in Bradford to improve local healthcare services.

“We are very keen to involve patients in our plans as we want to use their experience of the NHS to make real changes that will have an impact on people’s health. The webchat is just one of many ways that we’ll be engaging with people to hear their stories and find out why the NHS is important to them and their families.”
