A cancer charity which has its fundraising headquarters in Shipley has sent a rallying call for help in raising more than £200,000 – with a cuppa and a slice of cake.
Macmillan Cancer Support is appealing for people in Bradford and West Yorkshire to host a coffee morning in their homes, work places or communities to help reach its fundraising target.
Last year, 1,379 coffee mornings were held in West Yorkshire raising £204,116.
But the charity is hoping to beat that number this year and has called for people to organise 2,000 similar events for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday, September 28.
Macmillan’s Bradford fundraising manager Hayley Cooke said: “Last year we raised a record-breaking amount of money from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and we really hope we can repeat that again this year “I think it’s a mark of how much people love this event that every year it gets bigger and bigger.
“This event gives reason to make time for each other while also doing something really valuable for people with cancer and their families.”
