Barbara is a fastidious, frosty spinster who inhabits the ground-floor flat. Gilbert, a postman and handyman, lives in the basement and is painting a lurid nude study of Barbara. Nikki and Hamish are in the flat above. They hate each other.
Add in some passion, a few affairs, the odd accident, and some break-ups and make-ups and you have classic Alan Ayckbourn.
Things We Do For Love is Bingley Little Theatre’s first production of its new season. With a striking set depicting life in three flats in the same building, the comedy raises questions about messy relationships and the ups and downs of communal living.
Other productions this autumn season include Terence Rattigan’s Flare Path, JB Priestley’s A Dangerous Corner, Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale and Dan Goggin’s comedy Nunsense II: The Second Coming.
The Things We Do For Love runs at Bingley Arts Centre from September 17 to 22. For tickets, ring (01274) 567983.
