Discussions regarding new cells for Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court are still ongoing, Bradford Council has revealed.
The authority has set aside £4.4 million to create new cells for the city centre courthouse so that the remainder of the former police station, which houses the existing cells, can be demolished.
The Council has confirmed it is still in discussions with the Ministry of Justice and the Homes and Communities Agency, which owns the old police station.
Once the rest of The Tyrls has been demolished, the site will be cleared ready for a private developer to take on the prime location overlooking the City Park and create 100,000 sq ft of office space, cafes and bars.
The original plans for a business district alongside City Park were for two or three blocks of office development.
