Cult TV enthusiasts from across the world are revving up for a night to remember at a star car convention organised by a pair of Knight Rider fans from the district.

Friends Rob Ormondroyd, 29, of Bradford, and Steve Fawcett, 39, of Otley , are the organisers of one of the world’s biggest Knight Rider conventions, which last year attracted 29,000 visitors from as far afield as America, including star David Hasselhoff.

But the pair, who have transformed their own Trans Ams into perfect replicas of Michael Knight’s crime-fighting companion KITT, say this year’s convention at Xscape in Castleford on Saturday, September 1, will be bigger and better.

Mr Ormondroyd said: “The first Knightcon was in a pub car park in Halifax six years ago, so it’s crazy to think it’s snowballed into one of the world’s biggest Knight Rider conventions.

“People travel from all over the world, from Italy, the Netherlands and even America, and I think we’re the best Knight Rider show in the world.”

Over the years the event has expanded to other replica cars – including a 20ft Batmobile, Bumblebee from Transformers, a Ghostbusters car and the Delorean from Back To The Future.

The event is expected to attract cast members – although it is not yet known if Mr Hasselhoff will attend. Visit knightconuk.co.uk for more details.
