An art exhibition exploring how the weather in Haworth inspired the lives and work of the Bronte sisters will open on Friday at the Bronte Parsonage Museum.

The exhibition, called Hope’s Whisper, has been created by artist Rebecca Chesney, who installed a digital weather station at the museum last October.

She also read weather records from the 1800s and examined descriptions of the weather in letters and novels by the Brontes.

Jenna Holmes, the museum’s arts officer, said: “Rebecca Chesney mixes contemporary concerns such as ecology and climate change with a close reading of the Brontes’ daily lives.”

Miss Chesney will speak with critic Alexandra Harris on the significance of weather at an event on Thursday, July 26, at 7pm.

Tickets cost £16 in advance by e-mailing jenna.holmes@ bronte.org.uk or calling (01535) 640188.
