Heavy rainfall didn’t stop more than 800 people flocking to Riddlesden Gala on Saturday.
A parade featuring majorettes, a samba band and people in fancy dress set off from the Marquis of Granby pub at 1pm, but downpours started as it arrived on the field of Riddlesden St Mary’s Primary School.
Gala chairman Geoffrey Baldwin said: “The parade went very well, but when we arrived the heavens opened. Fortunately we had plans in the event of wet weather and moved some of the activities to the school hall and we went back outside again when the rain stopped.
“Numbers were down on previous years, but I think that was down to the weather. We’d like to thank everyone who turned up and supported us.”
The event is expected to have raised more than £1,000 for the Salvation Army Christmas toy appeal.
