A 31-year-old man is being treated in hospital after he was shot in the leg in a “targeted attack” in Bradford last night.

The local man was shot as he was walking to his car after visiting shops on Clayton Road, close to the junction with Hollingwood Avenue, Great Horton, at around 5.20pm.

He was taken to hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery today. Police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman said: “Officers are treating the incident as a targeted attack and are appealing for anyone who was around the area at the time who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.”

The suspect is described as a male, wearing dark clothing. He is believed to have approached the man from Lowell Avenue and then fled on foot in the same direction.

The police spokesman added: “The investigation is at an early stage and no arrests have been made at the present time.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101.
