Joseph Myers jumps for joy after winning the Telegraph & Argus Diamond Jubilee Queen’s Portrait competition.
The eight-year-old, from Plumpton Gardens, in Wrose, came out on top after more than 3,200 entries were submitted for the competition and his drawing was selected as the overall winner by a T&A panel after being selected by readers.
For his efforts, Joseph will claim the first prize of an iPad and his fantastic portrait is on the cover of the final T&A Diamond Decades pull-out in today’s paper.
Last night, his mum, Alix Seery, said he was “absolutely thrilled” with his success.
“He’s been walking around in a total state of shock since finding out he’s won,” she said.
“When he saw the finalists, he said ‘Mum, I don’t stand a chance’, and that was exciting enough for him. But now he’s won he’s absolutely thrilled. We all are.”
Today’s supplement also features messages from readers and will be sent to the Queen along with the other five supplements in the monthly series.
