Drivers and pedestrians in the Bradford district have been urged to safely use level crossings in a new campaign by British Transport Police and Network Rail.
Both organisations are using International Level Crossing Awareness Day tomorrow to highlight the dangers of improper use of the crossings.
Inspector Tracy Metcalf, of BTP, said: “Level crossings continue to be regularly misused by motorists and pedestrians.
“Incredibly some people are still willing to put their lives on the line by ignoring warning lights and sirens and trying to dash through crossings when trains are approaching.
“We are working with Network Rail to improve knowledge and take action against those who continue to misuse crossings. Those who flout the law can expect action to be taken against them.”
