Caring customers are raising money for the family of a teenage girl who was found bleeding to death outside their pub.
Tragic Gemma Louise Roberts, 18, collapsed after staggering into the car park of The Swan Hotel in Liversedge.
She had suffered a deep wound to her neck and could not be saved, despite frantic efforts by customers.
Now customers are pouring money into a collection by the pub for Gemma's family and more than £500 has already been donated.
Licensee Karen Osman said that the fundraising effort had begun with a charity cricket match between the pub's football and rugby teams, which was played two days after the teenager's death.
"They took collections at the game and when they returned to the pub and they also donated the match fee," said Mrs Osman.
"The collection has been going on since. Customers have just been donating over the bar and we are holding it safe for the family.
"We are letting it build up and then we will hand it over to them.
"I will be leaving it to the family to decide what they want to do with the money.
"Maybe it would help towards the cost of the funeral or pay for her mother to have a break somewhere, or maybe they will want to donate it to a charity.
"We haven't set a figure on what we want to collect; we are just going to raise as much as we can for them. The customers haven't hesitated in putting money into the collection.
"Everybody just wants to do what they can to help.
"Gemma's mother is still in a state of shock over her death but she is absolutely overwhelmed by what people are trying to do."
Mrs Osman is also going to discuss with the family and the brewery the possibility of a commemorative plaque at the pub.
"Her mother has mentioned putting a plaque on the wall but we would have to get permission from the brewery," she said.
Gemma, who lived in Liversedge, was found in the pub car park shortly after 8pm on Thursday, September 21.
Customers tried to stop the bleeding from her neck with towels but she was pronounced dead at Dewsbury District Hospital.
A police investigation was launched, headed by Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
Richard Mark Hanson, 20, of Stubley Lane, Liversedge, has been charged with Gemma's murder and committed to Leeds Crown Court for trial.
Last week an inquest into Gemma's death was opened and adjourned pending the completion of the legal proceedings.
