Craven residents could become volunteers at their local library.
Libraries across North Yorkshire are looking for people to help with a variety of duties following cuts in public spending.
County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, executive member for library services, said volunteers of all ages could gain valuable work experience and learn new skills.
Coun Metcalfe said: “Young people in particular can benefit from the opportunity to add volunteering to their CV.
“For people who feel lonely or isolated, volunteering is also a great way to build their confidence and make new friends.”
Anyone interested in library volunteering should contact northyorks.gov.uk/ libraryvolunteers, phone 0845 8727374 or e-mail libraries @northyorks.gov.uk.
