Motorist Jason Cross was ordered to pay £335 by Skipton magistrates for speeding on the A59 at Beamsley Hill. Cross, 37, pleaded guilty by letter to court today. He had been driving his Volvo V70 on September 28 at 78mph on the 50mph stretch, the court heard. Cross, of Stockton Road, Thirsk, was fined £265 and his licence endorsed with six penalty points. He was also ordered to pay £45 costs and a £15 victims surcharge.
