Members of the community are being urged to get involved in a four-year project aimed at improving the quality of the upper reaches of the River Wharfe.
The Upper Wharfe River Restoration Project will see a number of restoration schemes carried out between Oughtershaw and Grassington.
Run by the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust (YDRT) and funded by the Environment Agency, the project includes tree planting, willow spiling, willow bundling and fencing on certain stretches of the river.
A Catchment Walkover Survey will also be conducted which aims to identify the health of the river and its different habitats along the way.
And during the summer months the YDRT will be carrying out fish surveys to analyse fish populations and abundances to further investigate the health of the Upper Wharfe.
The project is being led by Daniel Turner, supervised by trustee Andrew Lawson. Mr Lawson said: “It would be great to get the local community involved with the project to increase awareness of rivers and the impacts they face.”
