A jury has been sworn in at Bradford Crown Court for a double murder trial.

The 12 jurors were selected yesterday for a trial involving the deaths of Muhammed Imran and Ahmedin Khyel, whose bodies were found dumped by a Bradford road.

In the dock were Sabir Hussain, 40, of Wensleydale Road, Thornbury, Bradford, who pleads not guilty to the murders of the men on May 10 last year, and Mohammed Iqbal, 29, of Athol Road, Heaton, Bradford, who denies perverting the course of public justice between May 9 and 12.

Iqbal is accused of assisting in the removal of blood-staining from the front living room of a house in Heath Terrace, Bradford Moor.

Prosecutor Tahir Khan QC is set to open the case to the jury tomorrow.

The men’s bodies were discovered at the side of New Lane, near Tong village, on May 10, 2011.

The judge, Mr Justice King, was told the trial is expected to last two weeks.

Before they were selected, the potential jurors were asked if they knew the defendants, the dead men and a list of witnesses, including a doctor, a mobile phone cell site analyst and members of West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

Mr Imran, 27, lived in Gloucester Avenue, Fagley, Bradford, and Mr Khyel, 35, in London’s East Ham district.

Post-mortem examinations found Mr Imran had died of head and neck injuries and Mr Khyel of head injuries.

The nine men and three women picked to sit on the jury took the oath and were sent away until tomorrow.

Mr Justice King told them: “You have got to ignore and put out of your mind anything about this case other than what you hear in the courtroom.”

He warned them not to do any research on the internet or in the public library.

The judge said a woman juror was recently sent to prison because she had looked up a case on the internet.

The trial continues.
