A high-security fence that has been put up on Green Belt land without permission will be allowed to stay.
Bradford Council has approved a retrospective application for the retention of the 2.1 metres fencing around a television relay site at Royd Hill, Roper Lane, Queensbury, Bradford.
Despite the development being classed as “inappropriate development in the greenbelt” by planners, it has been decided that there are “very special circumstances” to justify it.
A Council officer’s report said: “The need to secure the site, in order to maintain the efficient running of a public service is deemed to be sufficient justification in this instance, particularly when considered alongside the limited nature of what is being applied for.”
He said the ‘see-through’ nature of the fencing meant it should be allowed at this location.
An objector said that the fence spoiled the visual amenity of the area.
