Bradford’s St James's Wholesale Market has been voted the best wholesale market in the country for the second year running. This is the first time in the awards history that a market has retained its award. Judges were impressed with the partnership approach between Bradford Council and the tenants’ association regarding how the market has reduced its carbon footprint through waste recycling and energy saving. The Market in Essex Street, off Wakefield Road, has reduced waste going to landfill. Councillor David Green, Bradford Council's executive member for regeneration said: “I am delighted that the market has retained its award.”
