Detectives were last night questioning four men following months of inquiries into a street shooting in Bradford.

Officers probing an incident in Lidget Green last August, when the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, swooped on two homes in the city early yesterday and arrested one man from each address.

A 22-year-old was arrested from an address in Lidget Green on suspicion of possessing a firearm and wounding. A 21-year-old was detained at an address in Pollard Lane, Undercliffe, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The shooting was reported to have occurred on Wheater Road, Lidget Green, on August 3. The 22-year-old victim, who was named locally at the time as Quram Saleem, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary with injuries to his abdomen, which police said were “consistent with a gunshot wound.” His injuries were not life-threatening.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said yesterday: “Officers have today executed two warrants at addresses in the Undercliffe and Lidget Green areas of Bradford. A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and wounding.

“Two men, aged 22 and 23, who were previously arrested in connection with the incident have also answered their bail today. All four men are in police custody and inquiries are ongoing.”
