It is the one date in the calendar where men are expected to shell out for chocolates and flowers and women should shun anything basic in the underwear department for stylish and sexy co-ordinates.
Everyone should look and feel fabulous in her underwear and that starts with beautiful fitting lingerie.
Shopping for smalls to please your man – and yourself – should be an enjoyable experience, and with that in mind I visited the Leia boutique, based in Spurriergate.
Getting the correct fit is important, explains Helen Richards, store manager, who says an expertly trained team at the store helps customers find their perfect size ensuring comfort and confidence.
With a single glace she explained I had been wearing the wrong fit (leaving my chest as flat as a pancake) and so once she had my correct size down to a tee I was in a flatteringly-lit changing room with an armful of designs from the latest collection to try.
A quick shimmy in the changing rooms and the new-size me was left pleasantly surprised.
Everything looked in proportion and the exquisitely and intricately designed lingerie boosted my less-than ample cleavage. I looked trimmer and curvier where it counts and – dare I say it – sexier.
I tried designs for the Freya, Fauve and Fantasie collection, which steers away from the uniformity of what’s “supposed” to be “sexy.” Red. Black. Lace. You know the drill.
Instead I left swinging a shiny carrier bag containing lingerie with delicate berry coloured embroidery from Switzerland and gorgeous lace detailing from France.
Leia offers lingerie in sizes from A cups right through to K and from 28” to 48” back sizes.
