A co-founder of the University of Bradford’s Department of Peace Studies has won the Dayton International Literary Peace Prize 2011.

Professor Nigel Young received the Scholar’s Award for the 2010 edition of the Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace, which he compiled and edited more than seven years of collaborative work, with more than 450 contributors helping to create four volumes.

Professor Young travelled to Dayton, Ohio in America to receive the monetary award in a presentation made by Nick Clooney, father of actor George Clooney. He gave an acceptance speech at a ceremony attended by over 500 guests, including the Bosnian ambassador to the United States of America.
