Hundreds of people were to pay tribute to Bradford paratrooper Private Martin Bell today a year on from his death in Afghanistan.
A plaque was to be unveiled at Worth Valley Police and Community Contact Point where Pte Bell, of Idle, was based while working as a PCSO before joining the Army.
About 200 people, including Pte Bell’s family and 40 paratroopers from his former platoon, were to witness the unveiling by Sir Norman Bettison, Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police. Sir Norman said it was a ‘fitting memorial’. Pte Bell was killed in a blast while attempting to save the life of a colleague.
