An exhibition highlighting the contribution of ethnic minorities to British defence has been unveiled in Bradford.
Called We Were There, it was opened by Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry, who won the Victoria Cross due to his bravery.
The exhibition, commemorating the sacrifices of those who have served and currently serve in the armed forces, runs at St Peter’s House, the home of South Asian arts company Kala Sangham, until Friday.
It documents Britain’s military heritage from the late 18th century to the present.
Lance Corporal Beharry said: “In the Army you’re a soldier first and foremost. Your race, religion or gender doesn’t come into it. You’re there to do an important job and everyone is equal.”
