Parents are being asked to encourage their children to find healthy ways of travelling to school.
The initiative at Eastburn Junior and Infant School is part of a scheme counting down to the London Olympics.
Pupils are encouraged to walk, cycle or “scoot” their way to school and the distance covered by their journeys will be charted online, using Olympic host cities as milestones.
A school spokesman said: “It is part of a challenge to help promote a more congestion-busting, healthy and environmentally-friendly way of travelling to school.
“Each week the number of children walking, scooting or cycling to school will be recorded on a website. We aim to increase the numbers choosing to try an alternative to coming to school by car in order to compete with other schools in the local area.
“At the same time, children and parents can log onto generationM.co.uk and watch the progress being made. Every time the school reaches a host city we will receive information, interesting facts and project ideas for pupils to do.”
