A 16-year-old boy engaged in sexual activity with a 12-year-old girl during a torrid romance aired on Facebook and MSN messenger sites, Bradford Crown Court heard.

The immature Bradford schoolboy met up with the infatuated child in a graveyard, on a golf course and in a field where the inappropriate behaviour took place.

The boy, now 17, pleaded guilty to inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity on three occasions in 12 days.

The besotted girl wrote: “He’s my world, my everything,” in the diary section of her phone, prosecutor Jon Gregg told the court yesterday. He stressed the sexual activity, that did not include sexual intercourse, was consensual.

The offending came to light when the girl’s worried friends e-mailed her mother and the police were called.

The 12-year-old chatted to friends on MSN about what was going on and she and the boy had graphic sexual conversations on Facebook.

The boy’s barrister, Andrew Dallas, said it was an infatuation between two young people.

“It was an experiment that was disastrously inappropriate,” he said.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge James Stewart QC, sentenced the boy to a 12- month youth rehabilitation order.

He must sign on the sex offenders’ register for two and a half years and is barred from ever having contact with the girl.
