Royal Mail chiefs are considering closing three delivery offices in the Bradford district and transfering their work to a new site in the city.

The offices under threat are Bingley, Shipley and Bradford West in Thornton Road.

If the proposals are carried out, it will mean customers in those areas having to travel to pick up their undelivered mail from the new site next to the existing Bradford North Delivery Office in Inkersley Road, near Forster Square Retail Park.

The Royal Mail has stressed the proposals are still at an early stage and are subject to what it described as a “scoping exercise”.

But the group also said wholesale changes were necessary as it faced declining volumes of mail and tough competition from other delivery companies.
