The bravery and quick thinking of a little boy was recognised yesterday at Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre where he was presented with a trophy by pantomime star Billy Pearce.
Six-year-old George Barnes, of Wrose, met Billy as a treat to honour his actions in calling 999 when he saw his mum Sarah Ronan, 33, fall head first down the stairs, knocking herself unconscious.
George, who was only four at the time, spoke to ambulance staff and followed instructions from the operator until paramedics arrived.
Wrose Parish Council organised the presentation. Council clerk Ellen Imeson said: “He lives in Wrose and we wanted to recognise his bravery because he is so young. Little kiddies love pantomimes so we contacted his mum and she said they normally go to the pantomime every year, but hadn’t been this year so we asked if Billy could present a plaque to George and then they could stay and enjoy the show.
“The plaque is something he can keep forever to remember his actions.”
Billy gave George a tour backstage and also helped him present a bouquet to his mum, who is fully recovered.
