An elderly woman died after stumbling in her bathroom and hitting her chest, an inquest in Bradford was told.
Margaret Roberts, 86, of Grasleigh Avenue, Allerton, was dead on arrival at hospital despite efforts by her husband and paramedics who battled for up to 45 minutes to save her.
Mrs Roberts was getting ready to go to bed on December 3 last year when her husband heard a noise in the bathroom.
He went to investigate and found her in a kneeling position on the floor with her left ankle cut and at an awkward angle.
When he came back from calling an ambulance he found her unconscious, the inquest heard.
A post-mortem examination showed Mrs Roberts, who had a history of high blood pressure and osteoporosis, had broken her ribs on both sides and fractured her sternum.
He recorded a verdict of accidental death.
