A Bradford firefighter is preparing for a marathon charity challenge to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of his brother.
Jarrod Stoney, 39, from Wrose, his wife Amanda, 33, a staff nurse at Bradford Royal Infirmary, and their friend Lindsey Saunders, 37, of Eccleshill, are taking part in the Virgin London Marathon in April.
The group hope to raise at least £3,200 for learning disability charity Mencap in memory of Jarrod’s brother Darren, who died at the age of 26 in 1992.
Jarrod, crew commander at Bradford fire station, was spurred on to take the challenge again after his dad died in 2010. The trio will be holding a charity fundraising event at Yoyo’s, in Shipley, from 7.30pm on Saturday, March 10, to raise money.
