Impossibly chirpy with a youthful effervescence which can’t help but be infectious, The Kabeedies will be bringing their tight-trousered indie-pop to Bradford next week to promote second album Soap.

The Norwich four-piece made several waves when their first album Rumpus was released in 2009, reaching No 9 in Artrocker’s top albums of the year and kick-starting a touring schedule which included Latitude and Hamburg’s Dockville Festivals, as well as shows with Everything Everything, Darwin Deez, Hurts and CSS.

Bassist Rory said the band has been working on transferring songs from the second album, due for release on Fierce Panda on Monday, to the live environment.

He said: “It’s very much a Kabeedies record, but it’s safe to say it’s a little bit more grown up.

“This time, it’s more like we have written an album like how we’ve wanted it to sound.

“The first album was pretty much straight up, short bursts of pop music, but with this album we have played a couple of the tracks already and some of the other stuff people won’t have heard before.

“We are using backing tracks for extra sounds and we are kind of interested to hear how it all turns out – but in practice it’s been sounding really great.”

The band will be at Delius Lived Next Door, in Claremont, Bradford, on Saturday, January 28.
