DEATH: The death has been recorded of George Butterfield, 84, in Blaydon, Tyne & Wear. George will be remembered as a former head teacher at Wilsden Primary School and also of Baildon Ladderbanks Middle School.

GROUP: Wilsden Thursday Afternoon Group invite you to join them when they meet next week at 2.30pm in Wilsden Village Hall. They will enjoy a musical afternoon with soprano Stella Walker and accompanist Ian Baxter and a chat afterwards over a cup of tea. A raffle is included in the admission charge of £1.

LIBRARY: The latest news on the plan to run the village library which was closed following council cutbacks is that a nucleus of volunteers have come forward and it is the intention to run a course for core volunteers in order to be able to train others. MEDAL: Eddie Spence who won the RPS silver medal last year will present an audio-visual spectacular when he visits Bingley Camera Club for their 7.30pm meeting in Church House, Old Main Street, on Monday, January 23.

MEETING: Wilsden Village Hall was full for a meeting held on Wednesday, January 11, to discuss Bradford Council’s plan to build 300 houses at various sites in the village. Parish councillors Peter Ketley and Peter Allison spoke of the plans and the effect it would have as the village school was over-subscribed, as was the medical practice. Residents were invited to make their own views known to Bradford Council in writing as a block petition only counted as one vote.
