A Bradford primary school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors.

Shirley Manor Primary in Wyke was judged to be ‘good’ overall with ‘outstanding’ care, guidance and support for pupils following its latest inspection.

A report by inspectors stated pupils’ progress to be the result of “effective teaching” and noted strategies to boost attendance had been successful.

Head teacher Maureen Neill said: “We are all thrilled with this report. Everyone has worked very hard to bring about this outcome.

“Pupils, staff, parents, governors and the wider community are all very proud.”

Councillor Ralph Berry, executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “This is an excellent achievement for Shirley Manor Primary. Pupils, staff, governors, parents and the wider community should be extremely proud.”
