A Skipton couple have raised more than £1,500 for a local Drugs charity.

Martin and Patricia Emmerson, who run a stall on Skipton Market, organised a charity day in memory of daughter Trisha, who died from pneumonia and septicaemia at the age of 33 on Easter Sunday 2009.

They organised Trisha’s Day to raise awareness of individuals who are currently, or taking steps towards, drug and alcohol free lives.

Funds were boosted by the sale of ice cream by John Considine and a concert staged at Skipton Working Men’s Club by indie band The Tender Hooligans.

The money was donated to Craven Organisation for Drugs and Alcohol (CODA).

CODA is hoping to open a recovery café, initially on one night per week, and would welcome approaches from local businesses. Contact Jane Taylor at CODA on 01756 794362.
