Housing plans for the former offices of Craven District Council were withdrawn following last-minute calls for a financial contribution towards Skipton’s education.
Lovell Homes’ plans to build 57 homes on the Granville Street site were recommended for approval at a planning committee of Craven District Council.
But the application was removed following a last-minute recommendation by the education authority for Lovells to pay towards a new classroom at Water Street Primary School.
Councillors, who were to hear objections from residents and Skipton Civic Society, were told the application had not been completely withdrawn and it would return after the developer had had time to consider the request.
