Tributes have been paid to a former chairman of Craven District Council who has died.
David Crawford, 80, died on Saturday after apparently falling from a ladder while pruning a tree at his house in Bell Busk. It is understood he was found by a postman at around midday.
He was taken to Leeds General Hospital by air ambulance, where he died shortly afterwards.
Police are currently investigating his death to determine whether there are any suspicious circumstances. An inquest is due to opened and adjourned today.
Leader of Craven District Council, Councillor Chris Knowles-Fitton, said: “I shall miss his common sense and acerbic wit. Craven has lost a great son.”
