Bradford College has entered the Guinness Book of Records after creating the biggest bhaji in the world.
Catering students at the college created the massive onion bhaji weighing in at 102kg as part of the Positive Bradford Day celebrations last September.
Their creation has smashed the previous record holder’s attempt of 84kg.
The bhaji was created with help from chef Colin Birt and Bobby Patel, of the Prashad restaurant, who spent six hours making the huge bhaji using a traditional recipe.
The students and tutors have faced a nail biting wait to find out whether their bid was successful and yesterday it was revealed that it was.
Mr Burt paid tribute to everyone who helped make the record a reality.
“I think it is wonderful news for Bradford and for the college and the students,” he said. “It is a historic moment and it is a wonderful feeling to have this fantastic achievement.”
