A frustrated Bradford MP today said he would "have words" with a Labour MP who kept interrupting him during a Commons debate.

Lib Dem David Ward, Bradford East, became visibly exasperated with shadow defence minister Kevan Jones as MPs discussed changes to how business rates are allocated to councils.

Mr Jones (North Durham) delivered his speech but repeatedly made comments while sitting on the backbenches as Mr Ward tried to give his eight-minute speech.

Mr Ward eventually snapped: "You and I are going to have to have words at some point."

Mr Ward had stopped several times during his speech, shaking his head and letting out deep sighs while glaring at Mr Jones, before offering the ultimatum.

MPs were discussing the Local Government Finance Bill as a committee, less formal than normal proceedings in the Commons.

Debate chairman David Amess warned the duo: "This is the Mother of Parliaments and we conduct ourselves in a civilised way.

"I am aware that there is something outside the normal debate that is happening, but I would ask you to calm down."
