The way cancer patients receive their treatment could be transformed by the work of scientists at Bradford University.

A three-year project, funded by a £184,612 grant from Yorkshire Cancer Research, will test whether a drug that is taken by the mouth and distributes effectively around the body could act as a 'carrier' for established chemotherapeutics.

At present having chemotherapy can be a slow process for patients because the drugs struggle to find their way into the tumour.

Scientists at the university are to investigate a drug which could enable cancer patients to simply take a tablet at home in the future.

The new system could reduce treatment times and make it less traumatic for patients.
