The Bishop of Bradford has paid a visit to Bradford’s homeless.
The Right Reverend Nick Baines visited Inn Churches, the Bradford winter shelter for the homeless which has housed 43 people in the first seven weeks of the latest 13-week season.
He spoke to those having their evening meal at St Stephen’s Church, Donisthorpe Street, West Bowling.
Shawna Splawn, the project’s administrator, said she was thrilled that the Bishop was visiting the project.
More than 400 volunteers at 65 churches help provide a place of warmth, welcome and refuge during the 13-week season.
The Bishop said: “It was good to see how the churches working together on this project are making a real difference to people who are at an acute time of need in their lives. Given the economic forecast and the knock-on effect on jobs and benefits, it may well be that more of these projects will need to be set up.”
