A man has pleaded guilty to assaulting his 86-year-old mother when she brandished scissors at him in a heated row over the family cat.
Paul Burns, 48, who shared a home in Addingham, near Ilkley, with his mother, Rose, was yesterday warned by a judge at Bradford Crown Court that he may go to prison.
Burns, now living in North Avenue, Bradford, admitted causing Mrs Burns actual bodily harm on August 7 last year.
His bail was enlarged until he is sentenced on February 10.
Judge Peter Benson said he had caused his mother “a very unpleasant injury.”
“The court will consider custody as a likely option in your case,” the judge said.
