A helpline providing support to those affected by road deaths could close unless more volunteers come forward to man the phones.
An urgent call has gone out for more people to volunteer for SCARD (Support and Care After Road Death) set up by Carole Whittingham in 1993 after the death of her 27-year-old son.
The vital service is available 365 days a year between the hours of 9am and 9pm.
Mrs Whittingham said: “Unless we are able to recruit more volunteers, this essential service will have to close.”
