Magazine – No Thyself (Wire Sound Ltd) **
After parting ways in 1981, post-punk group Magazine are back together with an album of new material. Despite a strong start to the album with opening track Do The Meaning, offering an eerie sound and decent guitar riffs, the remainder of the album is a mixed bag. Lacking any main stand-out track, the album is unlikely to fair well and Devoto’s vocals are an acquired taste which will attract few of the uninitiated. Yet for those who felt Magazine were an under-appreciated talent, this is a welcome comeback to the music scene.
