A driver who collapsed at the wheel of his car – mounting a pavement and narrowly missing a wall – died from heart failure, a Bradford inquest heard.
Security officer Anton Roberts, 39, of Lund Street in the Crossley Hall area of the city, was seen by another driver to be leaning over the wheel of his Rover as it mounted the pavement close to a church in Ingleby Road, Girlington, on July 12, the inquest was told yesterday.
Mr Roberts died later in the Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Mr Roberts, who the inquest heard was overweight, had been troubled with a chest infection before his collapse and also had a history of depression.
A post mortem showed he died from the effect of hypertensive heart failure.
Acting Bradford coroner Professor Paul Marks said Mr Roberts had died from natural causes.
