Households across the Bradford district have been urged to try and save water throughout the winter to try and prevent a drought in the summer months.
Yorkshire Water said with the prospect of a dry winter ahead, customers needed to continue saving water as they did during the summer.
But while other areas of England have been affected by drought conditions, the Bradford-based company said water supplies in the region are “relatively healthy” for this time of year, with reservoir levels at 73.4 per cent.
It said there were no plans yet for water restrictions in Yorkshire, despite a dry spring and autumn, with only 406mm of rain falling between March and October this year, compared with a long-term average of 503mm in the region.
