The creation of a sensory garden for disabled people is a feather in the cap of The Friends of Harold Park.
The group this summer led a £70,000 transformation of a run-down tennis court at the Low Moor park into an area now featuring plants which appeal to all five senses and was designed to have easy access, especially for wheelchair users.
It was funded by the Community Spaces charity, Bradford Council's Ward Investment Fund and the Friends group itself, which had consulted with local people about what they wanted to see in their park.
One of the Friends of Harold Park Angela Tait, who accepted the award said: “Without the teamwork that goes on behind it, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are.”
