Detectives hunting a cycling sex beast, who raped a woman at knifepoint in Bradford’s red light district, today issued new photographs in a bid to get the public’s help to catch him.

Images of a striped jumper and black jeans, similar to those worn by the rapist, were released, along with one of a blue rucksack he was carrying and a black BMX bike, like the one he was riding.

Police have also put together a map showing the route the sex attacker took to the scene of the crime, and his escape route after the offence.

The 33-year-old victim, who was working as a prostitute, was walking in City Road, at its junction with Menstone Street, at 4am on Monday, September 26, when she was approached by the suspect, riding a bicycle.

They walked down a nearby passageway, where the man took what is believed to be a knife from his rucksack, threatened her and raped her.

The victim managed to get away after the attack. She was uninjured, but shocked.

Police have already released an e-fit picture and CCTV images of a suspect on a bike.

Detective Chief Inspector Lisa Griffin, who is leading the police investigation, said it was hoped the latest images would help jog people’s memory and help identify the rapist.

She said a map had also been developed of the route taken by the suspect.

Det Chief Insp Griffin said: “The team of detectives working on this investigation have studied CCTV from various locations which has enabled them to piece together the route which the suspect has taken.

“We believe he travelled on his bike along Leeds Road, through the city centre, towards Godwin Street, onto Sunbridge Road and finally arriving on City Road where the offence took place.

“His route away from the scene saw him divert towards Thornton Road, back into the city centre and along Leeds Road.”
