A family home in Bradford will be decked out in all its festive glory again this year to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The house, in All Alone Road, Idle, is home to Peter and Clare Downes, and their children Danny, 14, and eight-year-old Patrick.
Every year Mr Downes, who runs a cleaning business from home, decorates it with everything from twinkly snowmen to moving reindeer, parachuting Santas and penguins. Since his father Timmy died of lung cancer in 2006, he has used his fantastic festive display and the season of goodwill to raise money for Marie Curie’s Bradford hospice.
The 43-year-old said: “We have done this for five years for the charity and we have raised around £6,000. They do a wonderful job and were there for us.”
To add to the excitement this year the lights will be officially switched on tomorrow night live on BBC1’s The One Show. Researchers from the show read about Mr Downes’s decorations in the Telegraph & Argus and asked if they could visit.
