Discounts for Veterans: Moves are afoot to right a wrong. Many of us who travel abroad notice that other countries look after their veterans much better than ours.
We now have a Veterans Day (June 27) and a Minister for Veterans Affairs. Soon we will have a British Veterans Recognition Card which will entitle the holder to discounts on various items. The Veterans Agency (0800 169 2277) is building a data base from all who apply for badges or any other help.
- Captain Class Frigate Association: The eighth reunion takes place at Warwick from April 19-23. All former crew from any of the 78 ships are welcome. Contact Harry Fine on 0208 455 9400.

- Alexander Claud Forsyth: He served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. His daughter is seeking information about his naval career. After his navy days he became a pilot on tugboats in Cape Town. None of his service papers have survived and she is unable to trace any movements. If you knew or served with him telephone Teresa on 01369 810115 or write to The Heron, Ardentinny, near Dunoon, Argyll, PA23 8TR, or e-mail teresa@hartdyke.com.
- Recce Corps: Members may not be aware that this group have their own association. No matter which regiment you were seconded to your old mates have a reunion and a remembrance service each year. Call Des Warner on 01726 821415.
- RAF Pembury: Calling members of 233 OCU. Anyone interested in a reunion to mark 50 years since disbandment? Bob Hope on 01554 890520 (evenings) is awaiting your call.
- Festival of Remembrance: November is approaching. We would love to see more standards at St Georges Hall. Any branch who would like their standard to be on parade but have no bearers could use the local Cadet Force to do them the honours. It would make the young ones proud. Also, on Saturday, November 11, there is a service at the Cenotaph in Undercliffe Cemetery.
